It was founded by the Blounts&Moore team, a collaboration of nine highly accomplished women partnering with other like-minded, socially conscious entrepreneurs. Our Market 96 name pays tribute to the first state-level cannabis legalization in the United States in 1996 and honors the cannabis experience of today.

A Fox Valley area native and former student-athlete, I am thrilled to lead Market 96 in my hometown. With a background in national brand retail management, I bring a blend of intelligence, grace, and good humor to enhance the cannabis retail experience at Market 96. My journey from the retail sector to cannabis focuses on building community engagement and delivering educational initiatives to demystify cannabis and highlight its benefits.

Starting as a budtender, I devoted myself to mastering cannabis knowledge to educate and empower those around me. Now as a leader, I guide budtenders to foster community understanding and eradicate cannabis stigma. An Aurora native, I am passionate about uniting diverse individuals through education on the various benefits and consumption methods of cannabis.

Leveraging my background in wireless retail management and the legacy cannabis market, I developed key skills that facilitated my swift transition to the legalized cannabis industry. My commitment to social equity and reducing stigma, combined with a deep market understanding, allowed me to quickly become General Manager of a new dispensary within nine months.

To be located at 7300 Twin Pyramid Parkway in Belleville, the 7,000-square-foot facility will employ about 40 workers, according to founding partner Sherri Blount. The company hopes to open the dual-purpose manufacturing and processing facility and dispensary — which it says will be the first of its kind in the state — in the first half of 2024.
